According to study published in the Journal Ethnopharmacolgy, a four-week clinical trial showed that 2,000 mg of bitter melon when taken on regular basis reduced the blood glucose level significantly in the patients suffering from type-2 diabetes.

How to prepare & consume bitter melon
Bitter melon can be juiced, stir fried, add to soups, or smoothies. While the bitterness is healthy for you, it’s wont’ be tolerated by many. I personally don’t recommend removing or reducing the bitterness. For those who wish to do so by all means go ahead. Just sprinkle salt over the sliced pieces, mix it well and let it sit for about 1/2 hour. After soaking time, you can squeeze out access bitter juice and it’s ready for cooking.
Remove seeds from bitter melon before cooking. Trim off edges, and slice it straight across the center so you can scoop out the seeds and pits. Cut into thin slices.
A delicious recipe to try.
1 medium sized bitter melon
1 tbsp chopped onions
1-2 cloves garlic
1 tsp chopped cilantro
1 tsp chopped basil
1 tbsp chopped tomato
1 Tbsp coconut oil
Chili pepper and salt
Wash and slice bitter melon as per instructions above, squeeze out all excess liquid. Saute all ingredients except bitter melon and salt in oil for about 1-2 minutes, add sliced bitter melon and salt to taste, cook uncovered and stir every few minutes. Cook for 5-10 minutes or tender. Serve with brown rice and enjoy 🙂
